SingTel earnings climb 11%, helped by Bharti, Telkomsel

Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. said its fiscal fourth-quarter net profit grew 11% but sounded a cautious note on its outlook, citing global economic uncertainties. The company said its net profit for the three months ended March 31 was S$1.09 billion (US$795.3 million), up from SS989 million a year earlier. Revenue rose 11% to SS3.76 SingTel pretax earnings from its stakes in regional mobile operators rose 18% to SS630 million, driven by strong performances from Bharti and Indonesian operator PT Telkomsel, in which SingTel holds a 35% stake.
